Shoulder pain and overload in Castelldefels

The shoulder is the joint with the greatest range in the body and the first to register repeated movements and sustained postures. Joan Jiménez, registered naturopath (FENACO 3802), assesses the state of the cuff, trapezius and scapula to locate which structure is holding the load and restore range to the joint.

Signs we see in consultation

Shoulder overload presents a fairly defined picture:

  • Discomfort when raising the arm above the head.
  • Difficulty reaching the hand behind the back or getting dressed.
  • A loaded shoulder by the end of the day.
  • Discomfort when lying on that side at night.
  • Tension spreading from the trapezius toward the neck.

What we usually find

The shoulder is rarely overloaded on its own. It works in a chain with the scapula, the cervical area and the upper back, so a repeated movement —the mouse, carrying weight on one side, unevenly distributed training— ends up unbalancing the whole set.

When that imbalance persists, the muscles around the joint shorten and range decreases. Manual work aims to release the retained tissue and rebalance how effort is shared between scapula, trapezius and cervical area.

Approach and method

Joan explores the shoulder's actual mobility and the state of the tissue along the whole chain: cuff, scapula, trapezius, pectoral and cervical area. That reading shows what to release first and what is compensating.

On that map he applies deep manual work with TNDR (Natural Unblocking Regenerating Technique), matching intensity to the tissue response. No closed protocols: the structure holding the load is worked, not just the point that hurts.

An integrative service, not just a massage

Joan does not work with a single technique. Depending on what the assessment shows, he combines TNDR integrative massage in one session with decontracting work, facial and TMJ work, foot reflexology, biomagnetism, reiki or Access Bars. The combination is decided case by case, with no closed protocols.

What the work aims for

Recovered range when raising and rotating the arm.
Reduced load in the trapezius and scapular muscles.
Better tolerance lying on that side at night.
Less tension radiating toward the neck.
Better distribution of effort in repeated movements.
Mobility guidance you can apply between sessions.

Who it is indicated for

  • ·People with repeated arm movements at work.
  • ·Anyone spending the day on a mouse with a tense shoulder.
  • ·Swimmers, padel and tennis players, and strength trainers.
  • ·Those who regularly carry weight on the same side.
  • ·People noticing lost range when raising the arm.

The consultation in Castelldefels

The session does not start on the table, but by listening. First we go through what you notice, since when and in which situations it appears; then a manual assessment reads the state of the tissue and locates where the load is actually held.

1
Listening

What you notice, since when and what makes it worse.

2
Assessment

Manual reading of the tissue to locate the load.

3
Approach

No protocols or fixed timings: we work what needs working.

Frequently asked questions

Is only the shoulder worked on?▼
No. The whole chain is assessed —cuff, scapula, trapezius, pectoral and cervical area— because the load is almost never held by a single structure. Working only the painful point tends to give a change that does not hold.
What if the discomfort appears at night?▼
That is common when the muscles around the joint are retained. Releasing that tissue usually improves tolerance when lying on that side. If the discomfort is intense or persistent, a health professional should assess it first.
Does it help with sports overload?▼
Yes. It is one of the most frequent reasons for consultation among padel, swimming and strength training. Effort distribution is assessed and the overloaded structure released.
Do people come from outside Castelldefels?▼
Yes. The consultation is in Castelldefels and people regularly come from Gavà, Sitges, Viladecans and nearby. Book your session online.
Does it replace healthcare?▼
No. It is bodywork support from naturopathy, complementary and never a substitute for assessment by a health professional.
